Introducing Saebyeol oreum

The Jeongwol Daeboreum Fire Festival will be held at the Saebyeol oreum located in Bongseong-ri, mountain 59-8 Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

Saebyeol oreum has a characteristic of a complex volcano which has the horseshoe shaped crater that is both very wide and slightly splitted. Also, it is rising high with the little peaks making oval from the south peak to northwest.

The scale is above the sea level 519.3m, height 119m, circumference 2,713m, area 522,216§³. Saebyeol oreum, which is the middle size among the 360 oreums in Jeju island, is named after the saying "it brightens like a star". Such name can be written as üûàøä¿(or ãçàøä¿), and civilians sometimes call it 'saebael oreum'. Particularly, Saebyeol oreum is a historical place as general Young Choi in the era of Koryo dynasty conquered Mok-Ho(ÙÌû×).

The Jeongwol Daeboreum Fire Festival takes place in Saebyeol oreum occupying 200 thousand pyong which the place for burning oreum and other events occupies 100 thousand pyong respectively. Saebyeol oreum is bordering the west street of green resort tourist farm placed at the side of the west tourist road. It is located at a place that takes up 20 minutes from the Jeju airport by car.
